Mäntsälän Sähkö has launched a heat recovery plant and the heat transfer to the district heating network. The heat recovery is carried out in cooperation with Yandex data center. Yandex data parlors generate heat, which is collected and directed along the district heating network to the Mäntsälä households. Due to the collected waste heat carbon dioxide emissions are reduced by up to 40% in Mäntsälän Sähkö district heating. Heat recycling is good for the environment and in the long-term will also improve the competitiveness of district heating, because at the moment 50 % of the natural gas usage can be replaced by recycled heat.
